WhatsApp to bring this new feature on Android

Instant messaging app WhatsApp keeps on undergoing changes in order to offer more functions to users.

Being available on multiple platforms it often happens that certain features come to one operating system before the other. One example of such a situation is ‘Swipe to Reply’ feature.
The feature is already present for iPhone users since a while now, and has been spotted for being used on Android devices.
As revealed by WABetaInfo, account that tracks changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds, the company is working on this feature with the beta version up to 2.18.282.
As of now, the feature is not present courtesy “development reasons” and needs to receive a couple of improvements before being available for all WhatsApp for Android users officially.

The WABetaInfo report explains that the feature on Android phones works pretty much the same way as it works on iPhones. This feature facilitates quick reply to a message using gestures. Swiping a message to right will enable an automatical quick reply.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp rolled out an update, as part of which WhatsApp will now let users see the media file that comes as a part of the message right from the notifications panel. Until now, such notifications showed a camera icon in the notifications area. One would have to open it to see the media file. The previews also show GIFs. To verify if you have received the ‘Notification Extension’ you can ask a friend to send you an image and simply swipe down from the notification to see the preview.

WhatsApp comes to JioPhones

Recently, Facebook-owned WhatsApp rolled out a new version of its instant messaging app for Reliance Jio’s feature phones — JioPhone and JioPhone 2. For this, Whatsapp designed a new version of its messaging app for Reliance Industries-owned 4G feature phones. WhatsApp is available in JioPhone AppStore starting September 11.
The KaiOS optimized app will offer the standard features such as chat, sending images, documents, video etc to users. “The new app offers the best of WhatsApp including fast and reliable messaging and the ability to send photos and videos — all end-to-end encrypted. It’s also easy to record and send voice messages with just couple taps on the keypad,” said WhatsApp in a blogpost.
